1. Who is responsible for your data
Jennie Platt II Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 09827639, registered office 97 Clifton Road, Prestwich, Manchester, M25 3HG. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number [ICO NUMBER].
For anything to do with your data, email [email protected].
2. What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website, download our free guide, join our email list or buy the First Time Buyer Bootcamp; why we collect it; who we share it with; how long we keep it; and what rights you have.
3. What we collect
Information you give us
• Identity and contact details - your name, email address, and where you provide it, your phone number and postcode.
• Order and transaction details - what you bought, when, how much you paid, and your billing details. We do not receive or store your full card number.
• Account details - your username and password for the course platform (your password is stored in encrypted form and we cannot see it).
• Anything you send us - the content of emails, support messages, survey answers, and any testimonial or review you choose to give us.
Information we collect automatically
• Technical data - IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, time zone.
• Usage data - pages visited, links clicked, emails opened, which lessons you have watched and how far through, when you last logged in.
Information from others
• Our course platform and payment provider pass us confirmation of your purchase and account activity.
• Where you click through from an advert or a link, the advertising platform may tell us which campaign brought you.
4. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We only use your personal information where the law allows. In most cases that is one of the following.
• To give you the Course you paid for, create and run your account and deal with your questions about it - because it is necessary to perform our contract with you.
• To take payment and to deal with refunds - performance of our contract with you.
• To send you service emails about your purchase, your access, changes to the Course or changes to these policies - performance of our contract with you.
• To send you the free guide you requested and the emails that follow it - your consent, which you gave when you signed up and can withdraw at any time.
• To send you marketing emails about our courses and offers - your consent; or, where you have already bought from us, our legitimate interest in telling existing customers about similar products, which you can stop at any time.
• To show you adverts on social media platforms and to measure whether those adverts worked - your consent, given through the cookie banner.
• To keep accounting and tax records - our legal obligation.
• To protect the Course from account sharing, fraud and unauthorised access, and to improve what we offer - our legitimate interest in protecting our business and improving our product, balanced against your rights.
If we ever need to use your information for a different purpose, we will tell you first and, where the law requires it, ask your permission.
5. Marketing and how to stop it
• You can unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link at the bottom of every one, or by emailing us.
• Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop service emails about a course you have bought - we still have to tell you about access and changes.
• When you unsubscribe we keep a minimal record of your email address on a suppression list. That is so we do not accidentally email you again, and it is the reason we cannot always delete your address entirely.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the following, and only as far as they need it:
• Our course and email platform - Kartra, operated by Genesis Digital LLC, United States - hosts the Course, your account and our email list.
• Our payment providers - Stripe and PayPal - process your payment as separate data controllers under their own privacy policies.
• Advertising and analytics platforms - Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok, and Google - only where you have consented through our cookie banner, and only to measure advertising and to show ads to people like you.
• Our accountant and professional advisers - for tax, accounting and legal purposes.
• Anyone we are legally required to share it with - including HMRC, regulators and law enforcement where we are obliged to do so.
• A buyer of our business, if we sell or restructure - your information would transfer with it, and you would be told.
We do not pass your details to mortgage brokers, solicitors, surveyors or any other provider unless you specifically ask us to and agree to it at the time. Clicking a link we provide is not the same as us sharing your data - if you go to a third party's site and give them your details, that is between you and them.
7. Sending data outside the UK
Some of our providers, including our course platform Kartra, are based in the United States, so your information is transferred outside the UK. Where that happens we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place - either the provider is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or we have the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in place with them.
You can ask us for details of the safeguards that apply by emailing [email protected].
8. How we keep it safe
• Access to your information is limited to us and to the providers listed above.
• Our site and course platform use encrypted connections.
• We have procedures for dealing with a suspected data breach and will tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office where we are legally required to.
• No system is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your own password confidential.
9. How long we keep it
• Course account and purchase records - for as long as you have access, then for six years from the end of the tax year in which you bought, because HMRC requires it.
• Email list data where you have not bought - for as long as you remain subscribed, and for 24 months after your last engagement with us, after which we delete inactive records.
• Suppression list - your email address only, kept indefinitely so we do not contact you again.
• Support emails and correspondence - three years.
• Website analytics - as set out in our Cookie Policy.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
• be told how we use your information - this policy;
• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• have it corrected if it is wrong or incomplete;
• have it deleted where there is no good reason for us to keep it - note that we usually cannot delete purchase records within the six-year tax retention period;
• restrict how we use it while a question about it is resolved;
• object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time;
• receive it in a portable format and have it transferred to another provider where technically possible;
• withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month. There is no charge. We may need to confirm your identity first.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, on 0303 123 1113, or at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
11. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies on our website. What they are, which ones we use and how to control them is set out in our Cookie Policy.
12. Children
The Course is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, tell us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top tells you when it last changed. Where a change is significant we will tell you by email.
